Mission Statement

Movies, All about Movies!

I've decided to make this blog purely about Films and generally the movie industry. I'm no insider (yet) to the industry, but I follow it religiously and plan on sighting my sources like any good writer should. However, this is basically going to be a review sight where I get to express my opinions and insights on films that I've watched. I might just review films of the past as much as reviewing films of the future. The catch is that I'm only going to watch films that appeal to me.

So don't expect me to review movies like The Notebook or chick-flicks like that. I'm not gonna lie, there are some good chick flicks out there (A League of thier Own). But don't expect me to spend time on films that are generally not meant for my viewing. But the good thing is, you don't know me or how old I am. This gives me the advantage being able to review most films, as I generally like to give most films a chance anyway.

I regard films as a form of art. Art can be many things, but should always invoke something in all of us. Art is something that produces a cognitive and emotional reaction to the subject matter presented.

In technical terms, art can also be in the act of it's execution. For example, if your a fan of Sam Raimi and have watched the Evil Dead Series, you can agree with me that the films are b-movie in quality and inherently cheesy in nature. But in it's execution of being a B-movie, it's top notch! I cried laughing when I first watched Evil Dead 2. Army of Darkness was a classic! But on the flip side, Transformers 2, for example is a shit movie. The only artistic thing about the movie is the fantastic visual effects presented.

Just because a movie makes a bunch of money doesn't make it a great film. The Dark Knight for example made a lot of money, and lots of people enjoyed it. However, if you take Heath Ledger out of that movie, all you have is just a Batman who desperately needs to quite smoking. Seriously, what was up with that voice? (RIP Heath, your best was yet to come)

In the end of it all, opinions are like ass-holes. Everybody has one. So here's mine. I'll try not to shit on you too much.
